Governor Information

 Please see some detailed background information about each governor on our board here:

Debbie Sawyer - Chair of Governors (Co-Opted Governor)

Debbie has been a governor of Wildground Federation since 2013 and in 2018 has taken on the role of Chair of Governors from Fiona Western.  She has witnessed the journey the schools have been on since federating and has been an active governor on the last two Ofsted inspections.  Debbie is an involved member of the team, taking on many roles to aid and support the strategic direction of the Federation and the development of the governing body.  Debbie has a child at Wildground Junior School and is keen to challenge and support the Federation in maintaining high standards of progression and attainment without losing the wonderful teacher/pupil relationships that are evident across the schools.  Debbie started working in the Learning & Development industry as an IT Training & Training Manager for a Gold Standard Accredited IT Training centre based in Totton, a position she held for 10 years. She left in 2007 to set up as a Freelance IT Trainer & Consultant. Debbie spent a couple of years working with the LPI (Learning & Performance Institute) as an Accreditation Consultant and taught Trainers how to assess other Trainers against the LPI’s TPMA model. Debbie is now a Training Manager & Consultant for Smarter Business Processes, specializing in Smartsheet.

Ben Walmsley - Vice Chair of Governors (Parent Governor)

Ben joined as a Parent Governor in September 2017 and has developed over the year and is now supporting the Chair as Vice Chair of Governors. Ben’s background is predominately in Outdoor Education and is employed as a Senior Instructor at a local activities centre, therefore Ben has a wealth of experience both teaching and coaching children of all ages along with the risk and operational management of a busy centre. Ben currently has one child in the Infants school with another joining in a few years time.

Anneka Schofield - Development & Training Governor (DTG) (Parent Governor)

Anneka Schofield recently moved to Hythe and has two children at the Federation. Anneka has experience in teaching and a Masters in Ecology and Environmental Biology. She currently work for the RSPB as their Schools Outreach Project Officer and coordinate support for the Eco-Schools scheme in Bournemouth. Both these roles enable her to support schools in their environmental journey, promote nature connection experiences for the children and see best practice in many different primary schools and early years settings. Anneka and her husband chose for their sons to attend Wildground Federation based on the positive interactions between staff and children and the dedication of both schools in ensuring that children progress in their learning and have a positive journey during their primary school years. As an elected parent governor since Jan 2018, she hopes to support the federation so that it can become the best possible place for all our children to thrive.  Anneka is now our development and training governor who ensure that all governors are offered opportunities to grow and learn in order to support the Federation as effectively as possible.

Amanda Mullett - Executive Headteacher (Exec HT)

Amanda Mullett - Headteacher Governor since 2009. Amanda was appointed as Headteacher of Wildground Infant school in 2009, prior to this she had taught for 16 years across the primary phase in London, Southampton and Eastleigh. Leadership roles have included English Leader, Early Years Leader and Special Needs Co-ordinator. Following Federation of Wildground Infant and Junior schools in 2014 Amanda was appointed Executive Headteacher of Wildground Federation. Amanda has two children of her own at secondary school. Amanda is passionate about the value of primary education and providing the very best for all. She also believes in the importance of children developing a love of learning that can last a lifetime.

Fiona Western - Co-Opted Governor

Fiona originally served as governor at both the Infant and Junior schools. She then re-joined the Infant school governing body and became Chair of Governors at the Infant school before the schools federated in 2013. Fiona is stepping back from Chair of Governors to allow for a hand over period to the new Chair, which shows excellent succession planning.  Her three children have all attended the Wildground schools and have benefited greatly from their time there. She is an active member of the governing body and a regular visitor to the schools. Fiona is a Senior University Lecturer and a Higher Education Academy Teaching Fellow. She works closely with Governors, Staff and Executive Headteacher to ensure that the strategic direction of the Federation enables all children to excel.

Carol Moody - Co-Opted Governor

Carol Moody spent one year as governor at Wildground Infants then became a co-opted governor when the schools federated.  Carol started her working life at Hawker Siddeley Aviation in Hamble and subsequently moved to the University of Southampton, initially in its payroll Section. She spent her professional career within the University becoming Assistant Director of Finance before leaving for family reasons a few years ago. Carol has since split her time between family commitments and voluntary work in the community. She enjoys outdoor pursuits including camper vanning, walking and cycling. Carol recognises the value of such an inspiring Federation and to see the children benefiting from the dedication of both teaching and support staff.

Julia Stevens - Co-Opted Governor

Julia graduated from Winchester University in 2013 with a 1st class BA (Hons) degree in Primary Education and English. She started working at Wildground Junior School in September 2015 as a Yr 3 class teacher and is now teaching Yr 6, she is also part of the humanities team for the federation which ensures that RE, Geography, History and MFL are taught to a high standard and that we are providing a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum that meets the needs of all learners across the two schools. Julia is very proud to be a school governor for the Wildground Federation. She believes that the role gives her the opportunity to work closely with both staff and governors to help improve our school, to make contributions from a teacher's perspective and to learn about different aspects of school leadership

Hannah Mitchell - Co-Opted Governor

Hannah moved to the area in 2015 with her family and is Head of Project Management for a leading IT company. Hannah believes that clear direction and leadership are key to an effective school governing body and therefore a successful school. She has a proven track record of managing large teams, budgets and driving through change in some challenging times and believes that this experience would be of value to the Governing Body and the school alike.

Janice Chainey - Local Authority Governor (LA Gov)

Janice moved to The Waterside from Berkshire in 2003 with my husband and two chidren firstly living in Marchwood and then in 2013 moving to Dibden Purlieu. Janice is a newly elected Governor, nominated for this position by Cllr Wade and is looking forward to the challenge of supporting the senior leaders to learn and succeed together for the journey ahead.

Jessica Spacagna - Staff Governor

Jessica is a member of staff from Wildground Federation and had been elected by her colleagues within the Federation to be the Staff Governor on the Governing Board.

Deb Summers - Associate Member

Deb Summers is Head of School at Wildground Infants.  Deb attends all the Full Governing Body meetings to advise governors on all areas involving the infants school.

Lisa Taylor - Associate Member

Lisa Taylor is Head of School at Wildground Juniors.  Lisa attends all the Full Governing Body meetings to advise governors on all areas involving the junior school.
