SEMH & ASC Resourced Provisions

Otters, Snow Leopards and Zebras
  • Otters is a Resourced Provision for children with an EHCP for social, emotional and mental health needs.
  • Snow Leopards is a Resourced Provision for children with an EHCP and a diagnosis of autism.
  • Zebras is a Resourced Provision for key stage one children with communication and interaction needs with an autistic diagnosis in progress.

These provisions are designed for children who require a specialist environment within a mainstream school. Our aim is to support children in accessing a broad and balanced mainstream curriculum within a nurturing setting, supported by staff with relevant expertise and experience.

Children in Otters typically spend most of their mornings in their mainstream classes. They also access the Resourced Provision for part of the day to receive additional specialist support.

Children in Snow Leopards and Zebras usually spend a greater proportion of their time within the Resourced Provision. This structured environment is designed to ensure children feel supported and are not overwhelmed. Where appropriate, they also spend time in their mainstream classes and are included in trips and wider school activities.

Children in Resourced Provisions have an individual regulation support plan in place. Each child also receives bespoke interventions, such as Zones of Regulation activities and planned reflection times throughout the day, to support their SEMH needs and communication and interaction skills.

Please note that while we are happy to show parents and carers our Resourced Provisions after school, places are allocated by the local authority and not the school. If you wish to arrange a visit, please contact the federation office or Ms Everett; senco-jun@wildground.hants.sch.uk

Application Process

The application process for a place usually follows these steps:

  1. An annual review of the child’s EHCP takes place, during which the school advises if it is unable to meet need.
  2. Hampshire SEN sends consultations to a range of settings, including parents’ preferred choices.
  3. Settings respond to Hampshire SEN to confirm whether they can meet the child’s needs.
  4. Hampshire SEN collates responses and discusses children at a panel meeting with special schools and Resourced Provisions.
  5. Outcomes and proposed placements are shared with the SEN team.
  6. Hampshire SEN makes a final decision and shares any placement offers with parents.
  7. Parents may agree or disagree with the placement offered.
  8. If accepted, a transition plan is agreed and implemented within an agreed timescale.
