Attendance & Absences
Reporting Your Child’s Absence
If your child is absent, please contact the federation office by telephone on 023 8084 4001 (option 1).
If your child is unwell, please notify the federation office and keep your child at home. Please note that for sickness and diarrhoea you will need to wait 48 hours (two days) after the last bout to stop the bug spreading to others.
Parents and carers should inform the federation office on the morning of each absence. If you are unable to speak to a member of staff, please leave a message. Evidence for planned absences are required, i.e all medical appointments.
If a medical appointment falls during school time, please inform the federation office. Your child must be collected and signed out at the federation office located in the infant school.
The Department for Education (DfE) requires schools to record the reasons for pupil absences. Acceptable reasons include illness, dental or medical appointments, religious observance, school visits, and approved sporting activities.
Medication
If your child needs any prescribed medical treatment during the school day, please speak to the federation office. Only prescribed medicines in their original packaging can be administered in school.
Leave of Absence
A Leave of Absence request form is available from the federation office and must be completed for any request for time away from school. This applies whether exceptional circumstances are being requested or if your child needs time off to attend a music or dance examination. All other absences will be recorded as unauthorised.
Please be aware that penalty notices may be issued if a child is taken out of school without prior approval.
