Outdoor learning
What is Outdoor Learning?
Outdoor Learning encompasses many educational experiences that offers all children the opportunity to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in the outdoor environment. Our children will be given the opportunity to engage in motivating and achievable tasks and activities throughout the year and in almost all weathers. They will create artwork, work with tools, play and learn boundaries of behaviour in a natural setting. Such activities have shown to help children improve their social skills, grow in confidence, improve self-esteem and be motivated to learn whilst developing an understanding of the natural world.
Some activities of outdoor learning will include;
- Shelter building
- Tool use
- Studying flora and fauna
- Playing team and group games
- Sensory activities
- Rope and string work
- Art and sculpture work
- Woodland and traditional craft
- Developing stories and drama
- Physical movement activities
