The Food Larder is for the benefit of those in the local community who are on a low income and is to help them stretch their finances by reducing the weekly food shopping bill. This is done by way of a low cost membership scheme which enables them to have a bag of fresh food and store cupboard items on a weekly basis.
The Larder will be operated by Fare Share who will bring a mobile van with refrigeration unit to a location each week, and has been set up in partnership with Fare Share, CAB, NFDC and Waterside Foodbank.
The Food Larder will be coming to
- Marchwood Village Hall on Mondays 12.30 -2pm from 25th January 2021
- St Annes Community Centre on Tuesdays 12.30-2pm from 26th January
- Queen Elizabeth Recreation Centre on Thursdays 9.30 – 11am from 28th January
- Calshot, St Georges Hall on Thursdays 12.30 – 2pm from 28th January
A bag will be prepared in advance, and the Food Larder strives to offer a variety of products which can top up their cupboards and fridge. It is estimated that the “bag” will hold an average of £10-£15 worth of products (dependent on household size). A typical bag can include some of these items: Pasta, rice, coffee, tea bags, tinned meats, tinned fish, tinned desserts, soups.
